I grew up watching MTV from about Iris' age, and nothing's wrong with me.
I don't know any studies, but I would imagine it's better to spend more time reading and playing with babies than letting the tube baby-sit them. At the same time, I don't know of any ill-effects from babies watching a little television. Little Pearce loves watching football with my father-in-law, and he watches it with the same expression.
